Transforming dental distribution across Europe: from Spanish dental distributor to Pan-European platform
How Miura Partners and the Raneda family took Proclinic from a trusted name in Spanish dental distribution to a pan-European provider of dental solutions. Today, the group has a presence in 10 countries, serves more than 84,000 professional customers across 43 markets and generates approximately €420 million in revenue.

For 40 years, the Raneda family built Proclinic into far more than a dental distributor. From its base in Zaragoza, the company became a trusted partner to thousands of dental practices across Spain, with a national market share of approximately 25 to 30%, more than 55,000 products, technical support, training through the DEAC Academy, in-house aligners and next-day delivery nationwide. It was a one-stop proposition built around a simple idea: give dental professionals everything they need through a single partner. That model was underpinned by decades-long customer relationships and a deep understanding of the day-to-day needs of dental professionals.
The opportunity was to take that model beyond Spain. At the time of Miura's investment, 75% of revenue was still generated in the domestic market and the company needed additional resources to accelerate its international expansion. The Raneda family was looking for a partner who understood the value of what they had built and shared their belief that it could be scaled across Europe.
Miura invested in Proclinic in 2021 through Miura Fund III. In the years that followed, the partnership expanded the business into the largest independent European dental distribution platform, with subsidiaries in seven countries, a commercial presence across 43 markets, more than 84,000 professional customers and approximately €420 million in revenue. The strength of Miura's conviction in the business was reflected in the launch of Dent&Co in 2024, a €200 million vehicle created to support Proclinic's next phase of growth.
What Proclinic had built in Spain, an integrated ecosystem where dental professionals could meet all their needs through a single partner, was precisely what was missing across much of Europe. The partnership with Miura has been about taking that value proposition into new markets, adapting to local requirements while maintaining the same core philosophy: proximity to customers, a comprehensive offering and consistently high-quality service.
Value creation drivers
1. Internationalisation: from domestic leader to a presence across 43 markets
Before Miura’s investment, 75% of Proclinic’s revenue came from Spain. By 2025, Spain accounted for approximately 30% of group revenue, not because the domestic business had contracted, but because the international business had grown beyond it.
Nine strategic transactions helped reshape the group’s European footprint:
- Exotec: in-house manufacturing and a tripling of the group’s presence in France
- Meditrans: expansion into Eastern Europe
- Montellano: strengthened presence across Iberia
- VS Dental: entry into Italy
- Dentalair: expansion into Benelux
- Cenger: entry into Scandinavia and the dental laboratory segment
- GAPS Dental: expansion into Switzerland and high-value Central European markets
- Dental Best Practice: entry into the Netherlands and expansion into specialised dental practice solutions
- Dental Ibérica: complementary acquisition under Dent&Co, as of Q2 2026
2. Digitalisation: From distributor to integrated dental solutions platform
Proclinic’s ambition is not simply to sell more products. It is to understand what dental professionals need and bring those services together in one place.
Today, customers can choose from more than 150,000 products, arrange equipment maintenance, train their teams, finance investments, access in-house aligners, digitise clinical workflows and reorder products using their mobile phones, all through a single partner.
Technology has been central to making that proposition scalable:
- SAP S/4HANA as the common backbone across the group’s subsidiaries
- The multilingual Dontalia platform
- An app with automatic replenishment
- A 24/7 AI chatbot and predictive purchasing capabilities
Today, 70 to 80% of orders are placed digitally. Technology has made Proclinic’s customer service model more efficient without sacrificing proximity to customers.
3. Sustainability and Social Impact
Turning commitment into a competitive advantage.
Proclinic was the first dental distributor in Spain to achieve carbon neutrality across its direct operations (2023), with offsetting certified by the United Nations. Its 2,000 solar panels in Zaragoza generate up to 60% of the energy used by its logistics centre, more than 400,000 sheets of paper a year have been eliminated and 63.5% of its fleet is now hybrid or electric.
But the impact that defines it most is the human one:
- More than 5,000 professionals trained through the DEAC Academy since 2021
- More than €1,500,000 donated to dental NGOs and oral health programmes in schools since 2021
- More than 10,000 hours of training in 2025
- 55 new female hires in 2025
Dent&Co: the drive to grow
In 2024, Miura launched Dent&Co, a €200 million vehicle dedicated exclusively to supporting Proclinic's next stage of development. The fund brought together institutional investors from Europe, the United States and Asia, including Federated Hermes and Keyhaven Capital, attracted by the strength of the market, Proclinic's differentiated proposition and the alignment behind the project.
The Raneda family and Proclinic CEO Manuel Alfonso reinvested and will continue to lead the business. Dent&Co was created to build on what had already been achieved: consolidating the group's position in Italy, Germany, Benelux and the Nordics, expanding its product and service offering and pursuing further growth across a European market worth approximately €15 billion.
Impact in numbers
"With Miura, we have found the right balance. We have professionalised the business and made it much larger, without losing our values or our closeness to customers. That balance has been key to our success."
"In three years, we achieved what would have taken us more than a decade on our own. Today, Proclinic is unrecognizable in many ways, yet it has retained its essence. We still understand dental professionals better than anyone, but we now have far greater resources and reach."
"Proclinic reflects the way we understand partnership: backing strong management teams and family businesses to build sector leaders through internationalisation, digitalisation and operational excellence, without giving up what made the company great in the first place."
