Farmadosis partners with Miura Partners to drive its growth as a benchmark in pharmaceutical automation

  • Farmadosis’ solutions help improve treatment adherence, safety and medication traceability, while optimising and automating processes in pharmacies, hospitals and care facilities

Farmadosis, Spain’s leading company in personalised dosing systems (SPD) and pharmaceutical robotics, has welcomed Miura Partners into its share capital through Miura Impact Fund, to drive a new stage of growth and consolidate its position as a benchmark in pharmaceutical automation and medication traceability in Southern Europe.

Miura joins the shareholder base alongside Asier Zubillaga, founder of Farmadosis, who will remain involved in the project in an executive role focused on business and product development, partnerships and strategic vision. Joaquín González will continue to lead the company as CEO.

Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Mallorca, Farmadosis offers an end-to-end solution to automate the preparation and management of medication, combining hardware, software, supplies and technical service, built on proprietary technology. The company has around 50 professionals, most of them technicians and engineers, and a strong international presence, with solutions installed in more than 25 countries across Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.

With revenue of around €15 million and sustained double-digit growth in recent years, Farmadosis has established itself as Spain’s leader in SPD solutions and holds a significant presence in other international markets. Its customers are mainly pharmacies, hospitals, care homes and other care facilities, for which Farmadosis provides solutions to automate and improve safety and traceability in the preparation and management of medication.

This year, the company has reached milestones such as an agreement with Cretem, a Korean manufacturer specialising in pharmaceutical automation solutions, for the exclusive distribution of its products in Europe, and has been named SME of the Year in the Balearic Islands.

In this new stage, Miura will support Farmadosis in accelerating its international expansion and strengthening its organic and inorganic growth, exploring acquisitions that complement its value proposition, broaden its services and reinforce its presence in strategic geographies.

Technology serving patient safety and treatment adherence

Miura Impact Fund’s investment in Farmadosis is part of its strategy of backing high-growth companies whose business models generate a positive and measurable impact on society.

Farmadosis’ solutions improve treatment adherence and increase medication safety by helping to reduce errors and enabling medication traceability. This comes against a backdrop of an ageing population, a growing number of chronic patients on multiple medications and a shortage of nursing and pharmacy professionals, who today spend a significant share of their time preparing medication by hand. Automation optimises the preparation and management of medication in pharmacies and other healthcare settings, making healthcare systems more efficient.

Asier Zubillaga, founder of Farmadosis:

“Miura Partners’ entry is an important step for Farmadosis and will allow us to embark on a new stage of growth while keeping innovation and technological development as our core pillars. We share the ambition of continuing to expand our international presence and developing new solutions and partnerships that allow us to deliver ever greater value to our customers and help improve safety in medication management.”

Guillem Augé, Partner at Miura:

“We are very pleased to partner with the Farmadosis team, a leading company in medication automation in Spain, with proprietary technology, a clear international vocation and solutions that have a direct impact on patient safety and the efficiency of the healthcare system. Our experience in scaling and consolidating healthcare companies across Europe will allow us to support them in this new stage of both organic and inorganic growth”.
